What activity or dream did you put off till the New System?
by nochoice inafter reading the thread about jw kids getting gifts all year and not needing christmas, i thought about how i was told there would be plenty of toys in the new system.
i was told that on my birthday too.
and now i started thinking about all the things i justified suffering growing up as a kid, and then a teenager, and then an adult, because it would be better in the new system.

I never even had a dream being raised as a witness. I was always waiting for Armegedon and the new order.
I got to be 60 years old and life passed me by.
I wish I would have gone to college and gotten a good job.
But that wasnt an activity or a dream back in the 70's. I just know now that is what I should have
done.

Looking Back, Did You Notice Many JWs Had Drinking, Drug or Mental Issues?
by minimus inas an elder, i saw many people that were affected by booze, drugs and mental health issues.
a lot of witnesses fought depression and turned to other things when they realized they couldn't keep up the pace and find inner happiness with what they did do..

13 year old brat.
I agree where are the fathers?
When I was 13 I would never consider pulling a knife for 2 reasons.
The tv and movies I watched did not depict such behaivor and I didnt watch much tv.
And If I called my mother a stupid bitch, I would have gotten strapped and put in my room for a long
time by my father.
This kid who did the shooting in Ct. Had a father who tried to buy his way out of parent ship by paying 2000$ a month
child support. If your gonna breed them, you are responsible to raise them. This letting the village raise your
child is bull. You have to raise your child, raising your child involves programing and monitoring daly in their formative
years until they are adults.
All these kids having mental illness is a sham. A way to drum up business for the doctors and big pharmacy.
I spent a career working in juvenile justice and most of the youth in detention were from single parent families.
When the parents wont, cant or dont raise their offspring then the kids need medication to soften the harsh reality
of their life. And if they cant get legal big pharmacy drugs they get street drugs.
That is why I am in favor of abortion. If parents dont want a child, if they are not prepared to nurture and guide
a child, they should not bear children. Because society does not do a very good job at raising other peoples
mistakes and problems.

Is The Book of Revelation All About Me & My Generation?
by ClubSandwich injws believe the book of revelation offers an account of what is to come in their lifetime.
but the problem is that every generation for the last 1900 years has thought the same thing.
and, every generation has been wrong, even though each new one thinks it will be about me and my generation this time.. most reputable bible scholars believe that revelation, also called the apocalypse of john, was not written to describe the future for people living today.

A thought experiment about what it means "to be" GOD
by Terry inall believers in god begin with the premise that he is the creator.. but-stop!.
go back one step.
what about before god was a creator.. creation is the "beginning" for the created--but--not for god.. .

God could always have been creating and always all knowing.
Before he created our universe, who can say he wasnt creating other things?

Friends of Bill W. W Must Stand for WTF?
by Malsonilla ini keep crossing paths with people who are in recovery, that is, recovering from drug and alcohol addiction.
these folks regularly attend alcoholics anonymous and narcotics anonymous meetings and are all somewhere in the process of working the 12 steps of recovery.
the organization denies affiliation with any legal entity; a blatant deception, a lie they tell new ones and each other at each and every meeting.

I know AA works. It worked for me.
And I know lots of other folks it worked for.
I have seen the Higher power work for atheist and theist.
I have seen Higher powers that were Rocks and higher powers that were Jesus.
ha ha I AM sober. I am not in recovery for anything other than having been born and raised into a religious cult, so let me be perfectly clear: I do not suffer from drug or alcohol addiction.
You dont behave like you are sober. If you are sober why do you even care how others pursue sobriety?
AA works for those who work it. It is like going to the gym. If you have a gym membership, that doesnt make you fit.
You have to eat right and think right and do the routines and then you get fit. AA is the same way. You have to work the program.

How many of you have lost your faith on JWN
by Most Noble injust curious, if anyone had lost faith whilst on jwn and do u think it is an honorable experience?..
-
James Brown
I came to find out while here that the only way you can be saved is by faith.
Being saved by faith has nothing to do with facts and reality.
Faith is a belief not based on proof.
So I have had proven to me here on JWN that the bible is not true and that
there is no God. That there was no flood and that the earth and man is more than 6000
years old.
But that reality, that proof has nothing to do with faith.
Faith is not based on proof, so how can you loose it, if someone prooves to you
that a belief is wrong?
The only way you can loose your faith is just to decide you dont want to have faith anymore.
You cant loose your faith because someone proves to you what you believe is wrong.
Because if your belief is faith it is not based on proof. So how can you loose it?
The only way you can loose it is to just decide you don't want it anymore.
So you cant really loose it, you have to disgard it.
